The Haybarn Shelter was formerly used to store hay when this land was used as a dairy farm. It is now a shelter suitable for any large event such as outdoor meetings, family reunions, weddings, scout group meetings, and more. 

This shelter is open on two sides. Decorations can be hung using provided hooks, tape or rope. Nails, tacks, screws and staples are prohibited on any part of the shelter or tables.

The Haybarn is surrounded directly by a mowed area to allow space for activities.

Renters will have access to the shelter during regular park hours - 6:00 AM to 10:30 PM.

The Haybarn Shelter is located at Pioneer Ridge Nature Area.

The Haybarn Shelter is an open shelter located in a natural setting. It is perfect for family reunions, scout or other meetings, and outdoor weddings.

$150 refundable damage deposit required

 

AGREEMENT ACCEPTED AT TIME OF BOOKING contains renter responsibilities, cancellation and refund restrictions, and park conduct information. Renter will be responsible for damages beyond normal wear. Renter must be at least 21 years of age and present at the facility for entire reservation period.

 

A damage deposit of $150.00 is due two weeks prior to your reservation date(s). If you are making a reservation less than two weeks from now, please send your deposit immediately. The deposit MUST be cash or check. The deposit must be dropped off or mailed to the main office at 1339 HWY 63 Bloomfield, IA 52537. The deposit will be returned if you cancel the reservation or if the shelter and grounds are vacated in good, clean condition and equipment/furnishings are not lost or damaged. Failing to cleanup after your event will result in loss of damage deposit. All or part of the deposit may be retained against cleanup costs, damage, or loss incurred. If the deposit amount does not cover such costs, the renter is held responsible for additional payment.

Hours of Operation & Seasons

The Haybarn Shelter is available for rent year-round.

Running water and restrooms close seasonally. (approx. mid-October to mid-April)

Permits

An alcohol/keg permit and deposit is required for certain containers.

Certain activities or items require that you request and obtain special permission from the Board in advance to your events. This includes but not limited to the following: horse activities, set-up of special tents, inflatable play equipment, etc. A special use permit will be required and will need to be approved by the Board at least 30 days prior to the reservation date.
